1993 – 1998: Secondary school (science stream), Montepulciano, Siena, Italy. High school diploma.

October 1998 – December 2006: Degree in Biological Sciences, ecological curriculum (5-year degree). Thesis title: “Organophosphate-resistant form of acetylcholinesterase and invasive capacity of Louisiana red swamp crayfish, Procambarus clarkii (Girard, 1852)

October 2005 – October 2006: Study period at Laboratory of Ecology and Ecophysiology Applied to Global Changes, Department of Environmental Sciences "G. Sarfatti", University of Siena, Siena, Italy. Main activities: Biomarkers in muscles and gills of marine vertebrates and invertebrates with and without specific inhibitors, such as organophosphorus pesticides

March 2007 – September 2007: Study period in an animal feedstock factory (“Giardini S.p.A.” company, Castiglione del Lago, Perugia, Italy). Main activities: Toxicological tests for product quality control; updating Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) manual; collaboration with the administration for ordinary management.

October 2007 – October 2008: Collaboration at Department of Chemical and Biosystem Sciences, University of Siena, Siena, Italy. Main activities: Theoretical and technical investigation of different holistic indicators (emergy and greenhouse gas balance) to assess the environmental sustainability of regional systems (in particular the Region of Abruzzo at the year 2006).

October 2008 – December 2011: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Sciences (Cycle XXIV), High School “Santa Chiara”, University of Siena, Siena, Italy. Main activities: Application of thermodynamic indicators (emergy and eco-exergy), as well as greenhouse gas balances, to assess the environmental health of ecological, social and productive systems, concluding with a PhD thesis entitled “Joint application of different methods to assess the sustainability of complex systems”. During the PhD period, I was included in the working group of the REGES Project, which involves the development of greenhouse gas inventories, in time series (2006-2011), of the Province of Siena (Italy) and their ISO 14064-1 certification by the agency RINA Services S.p.A. The doctoral program also included a period of study abroad (1 July to 31 August 2010 and 1 February to 5 April 2011) at the Department of Environmental Chemistry, University of Copenhagen (Denmark), under the supervision of Prof. Sven Erik Jørgensen, during which I have improved my knowledge in ecological modeling.

12 March 2012 – 12 March 2013: Researcher in a company (M.e.i.S.Am Project, funded by Siena Province Administration, Italy). The study involved the cooperation between the company Siena Ambiente S.p.A. (the only waste operator in the Province of Siena) and the Ecodynamics Group of the University of Siena. Main activities: Monitoring the emissions to the atmosphere from waste management plants in Siena Ambiente S.p.A. (landfills, incinerator, recycling and composting plants).
