Postdoc at the Trinity College, University of Dublin, since October 2014.

Research Fellow at the University of Siena from October 2013 to September 2014.

In December 2013 he earned his PhD degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Siena with a thesis on “Thermodynamics-based evaluation of ecosystem services for a systemic and sustainability analysis of socio-ecological interactions”, tutored by Prof. Federico M. Pulselli, and Prof. Paul C. Sutton from the University of Denver, Colorado, USA.

From May to August 2013 is Visiting Research Student at the Barbara Hardy Institute and the School of Natural and Built Environment, University of South Australia.

In 2008 takes a graduate degree in Environmental Sciences and Technologies at the University of L’Aquila defending the thesis: “The freshwater biodiversity: the value of goods and services of freshwater ecosystems”, and in 2010 takes a post-graduate degree in Sciences and Technologies of Monitoring and Environmental Recovery at the University of Siena defending the thesis: “Toward the definition of a physical basis in the Evaluation of Ecosystem Services: an eMergy approach”.

From January to July 2009 is an Erasmus student at the University of Castilla La-Mancha, in Toledo, Spain.

Luca Coscieme research is focused on the application of holistic environmental indicators (Emergy, LCA) to the Ecosystem Services Valuation. He investigates the relations between natural ecosystems and human activities; resilience and evolution in socio-ecological systems. He also works with nigh-time imageries and remote sensing in order to study the dynamics of resource availability and consumption on a territorial basis. He participated at many national and international congresses, and he produced some scientific publications on international journals, books and encyclopaedias.

He assisted the didactics in the course of “Sustainability and Environmental Certification: Environmental Sustainability Indicators”; Department of Earth, Environmental and Physical Sciences; University of Siena; Years 2010/2011, 2011/2012, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. Since 2014 has been awarded as subject expert in “Sustainability and Environmental Certification”.

Luca Coscieme is a member of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and the Ecosystem Service Partnership (ESP). He is reviewer for the International Journals: Remote Sensing, Ecological Economics, Ecological Modelling and the Journal of Ecology and the Natural Environment.
