Elena Neri was born in Siena on 15 September 1983. In 2002 she obtained scientific school-leaving certificate at “Galileo Galilei” of Siena (82/100).
On 13 October 2006, she obtained a I° Level Degee in “Environmental Sciences” at the University of Siena, with a thesis entitled “Geochemistry and environmental effects of gas emanations along fault line in Val d’Elsa: biomonitoring with transplanted epiphytic lichens” (105/110; supervisor of the thesis: Prof. Francesco Riccobono, Department of Environmental Sciences, Sec. Environmental Geochemistry, University of Siena).
From September to December 2006 she performed an internship at the ARPAT of Siena, where she worked on bio-monitoring and analysis of water quality.
On 2 October 2008 she obtained the title of “Technical Expert in Environmental Biomonitoring” issued by the Region of Tuscany.
On 27 April 2009 she obtained a II Level Degree in “Technologies of the Ecotoxicological Impact analysis” at the University of Siena, discussing a thesis entitled” “Features of geochemical fluid emitted from a putizza in Val d’Elsa. The ambient air quality measured by passive samplers and lichen transplants ” (110/110 cum laude; supervisor: Prof. Francesco Riccobono, Department of Environmental Sciences, Sec. Environmental Geochemistry, University of Siena).
Currently she is Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Sciences at the University of Siena (XXV cycle – environmental curriculum) with a project entitled “Environmental sustainability assessment using thermodynamic approaches” under the supervision of Prof. Simone Bastianoni and Prof. Nadia Marchettini.
